Director Flynn is ‘star’ of the show

Musical theatre director Bryan Flynn’s ten years of directing the Cork Opera House’s biggest productions will be marked on Saturday in a tribute show entitled Hey, Mr Director!.

Flynn’s recent hit, The Sound of Music, was seen by 40,000 people in two runs. Other Flynn successes include the hurling comedy, The All Star Wars, and Michael Collins: The Musical, both of which have toured nationally.

It’s a testament to Flynn that 150 actors, including children, are participating in the tribute, which consists of excerpts from his shows, with MCs including Declan Woulfe, Frank Mackey and Richie Hayes, and a 25-piece orchestra. The tribute is the brainchild of Cork Opera Houses CEO, Mary Hickson, and stage manager, Maria Young.
