A map of the human heart

‘Passports — Globalisation in Contemporary European Video’ is an exhibition of video art in the Glucksman Gallery, UCC, curated by Chris Clarke.

A map of the human heart

The Irish presidency of the European Union informs the exhibition, which investigates migration, trade and globalisation. The show features work by Ursula Biemann, Angela Sanders, Michael Fortune, Thierry Geoffroy (aka Colonel), Kai Kaljo, Antti Laitinen, Maria Lusitano, and Nada Prlja.

“Borders can be arbitrary, they shift, they change,” says Clarke, the Glucksman’s curator of education and collections. “Not that long ago, the EU was a handful of countries and that’s constantly expanding. There’s work which is very directly political, which is about an expanded Europe, a globalised Europe, where you bring in the fringes of Africa or Asia or North America.
