TOYS SPURGE: Smyths is predicting that Monday next will be the biggest toy shopping day of the year as parents prepare early for Christmas.

The date is known as Cyber Monday and Smyths report a surge in shopping at Smyths.com as more parents buy online. In Ireland Santa brings an average of six toy presents, including stocking fillers and one main present. Technology rules Smyths’ Top Toys list for 2012 with children’s tablets, the updated Furby and Skylanders taking the top spots. For younger children Smyths’ top pick is the Jake and the Never Land Pirates Pirate Ship Bucky, €59.99, age three plus.
