MUSIC NEWS: Two of the more interesting artists on the Irish music scene have joined forces. Jape’s Richie Egan has remixed the new Villagers track The Waves, a tune that’ll presumably pop up on next year’s album Awayland. Liam Gallagher has risked the ire of George Michael by reportedly heading to the bar just 23 minutes into the former Wham man’s recent gig at Earls Court Arena in London. Apparently he hung out there with his long-term collaborator Andy Bell. Another tale from the British tabloids reveals that Rihanna has been offered £5m to switch on the Christmas lights at London’s Westfield shopping centre. Even that insane sum is small change to the Rolling Stones, however. Tickets for their London gigs at the O2 on Nov 25 and 29 start at £90, with the band expecting to pocket about £16m from this year’s live shows. And finally, what do you buy the girl who has everything? Edith Piaf’s toenail clippings, apparently. We’re attributing this story to British red-top The Sun, which claims that Lady Gaga is attempting to purchase the clippings as part of a set of items that belonged to the late French singer. Cue the puns about getting them for a snip.
GIG WISE: Tickets for the Killers’ appearance at the O2 in Dublin on Feb 22 went on sale this morning. The Nevada outfit are touring to coincide with the release last month of their fourth studio album, Battle Born. Meanwhile, Lianne La Havas had to cancel her show earlier this week at the Olympia due to illness, and has instead rescheduled at the Dublin venue for Mar 5. Punters have a choice of attending then or getting a refund. Also at the Olympia, the Rubberbandits have scheduled their Christmas party for Dec 14. Andrew Weatherall, left, does his dance DJ thingy at the Pavilion in Cork tonight, while Sharon Shannon has a gig at the same venue on Nov 14.
