Lots to tempt at Munster antique fair

Lots to tempt at Munster antique fair

WITH everything from a silver sauceboat from Asprey’s to a contemporary oil of the Maam Valley, the Munster Antique and Art Fair at Moran’s Silver Springs Hotel in Cork tomorrow has much to tempt collectors. Hibernian Antique Fairs are bringing dealers from all corners of Ireland.

There will be more than 30 stands, including a number of members of the Irish Antique Dealers Association. Fairs have grown in importance in an economic climate where antique shops and galleries have been forced to close through high overheads.

Among those who will attend are Weldons of Dublin with Cork and other provincial silver pieces; Treasures Irish Art of Athlone; Hugh Green of Francis St, Dublin (antique furniture); Marie Curran, Dublin (silver and jewellery); William Hartnett of Co Limerick (antique furniture); Desmond Gallagher, Belfast (silver and porcelain); Sanda Hogan, Cork (silver jewellery); Eily Henry, Co Waterford (vintage fashion and accessories); Clanrye Antiques, Newry (porcelain); Eddie McMahon, Co Clare (coins and banknotes); Ignatius Buckley, Cork (silver); Sharon O’Keeffe, Midleton (vintage) and John Vanweensveen, Westport, Co Mayo, (copper, brass, glass). Opening times are from 11am to 6pm.
