Mother Jones Flea Market, Flea markets are so much fun and this one, based in Thompson House on York Street, just off MacCurtain Street in Cork city, is no exception. It has a lovely Facebook page to give you an idea of what they are about and they are mad recruiting new traders — contact Lorna on 085-1751554 or motherjonesfleamarket@gmail.com. Whether you’re a seasoned vintage head or just trying to make some room in the house, all welcome.

Give Irish CraftStaying on Facebook this week, this page promotes the giving of Irish craft as a gift — and why not? Some gorgeous products here, jewellery, pottery and ceramics, fashion and accessories. Their main aim is to highlight authentic Irish crafts at an accessible price, so gifts start from €10. Every product has a story and ‘comes from a real place, often made in rural Ireland by a real person’ — their words, not mine.

Backwater ArtistsThis is one of the largest artist studio groups in Ireland, founded in 1990 by graduates of the Crawford College of Art and Design. The studios are located in the Wandesford Quay complex, a total of 28 studios — have a browse through their albums, the pictures from the Open Studios in 2011 really capture the energy and accessibility of the art.
