My boyfriend says he loves me but still sees his ex for sex

Q My boyfriend of six months has recently admitted he is seeing his old girlfriend for sex-only dates. He says he doesn’t love her but was missing the buzz of their sex life. He’s promised he won’t see her again and says he’d like us to get married in the future. We are still having sex but I’m finding it difficult to trust him. My friends say I should break it off but I’d hate to lose him. We are both 29.

A Trust is core to any successful relationship, and if you can’t believe your partner then you need to think long and hard about continuing in the relationship.

Though the relationship is relatively new his deception has hurt you deeply. Did his previous relationship really end? Is he playing with both of you? However his ex-girlfriend is not the focus of the problem. It is his behaviour. He is the one making the choices.
