Web Watch: Ruby Clover

One of the less naughty of the Ruby Clover images on etsy.com — the vintage-bathing-beauty-ornament.

1. Ruby Clover: You know you’re on to a page with a difference when you click on to look at a Christmas ornament and “Mature! please take note of the explicit subject matter!” comes jumping out. A real beauty this one is, from a collection of Anais Nin’s books. The site has stunning handmade decoupage products and Irish and vintage inspired crafts and photography. At the moment it has 1,065 admirers on Etsy. It should have a lot more. Check it out.

2. Vintage Bits Blitz: Staying on Etsy, and the vintage theme, click on to Vintage Bits Blitz. Based in Massachusetts and open since 2008, it has a glorious array of the unexpected. From Christian Dior signed earrings in its original box for €51 to a 1940s machine turned brass school pencil sharpener. My favourite piece on here though is a 14kt smiling Buddha combined with a gold four-leaf clover — this could be a very lucky charm.

3. Nostalgic Glass: My third pick from vintage Etsy is this page. it updates daily so you’ll always find something new and interesting. At the time of typing, there’s a fabulous Vintage Kodak hand crank projector on there for around €20, not including post and packaging. Etsy is really easy to use, with a favourites button that you add things to and revisit later. My paw is sore from clicking it.
