Literary talents in artful black and white

JOHN MINIHAN is one of Ireland’s best-known photographers. Cork City Arts Office has collaborated with the Munster Literary Centre to stage ‘Writers in Cork’ , an exhibition of 20 of Minihan’s photographs, in the foyer of Cork City Hall to mark Culture Night and the Cork International Short Story Festival.

Minihan selected the ‘Writers in Cork’ photographs from his extensive collection of portraits of Irish writers. The black and white images encompass the new bright lights of Irish literature such as Leanne O’Sullivan and Billy Ramsell to the infamous Edna O’Brian, as well as the homeplace of the late Frank O’Connor, which now houses Munster Literary Centre on Douglas Street.
