Georgian furniture at house sale

AN on the premises house sale by Doneraile based Aidan Foley will take place at Marybrook House, Kanturk next Saturday (Sept 15) at 12 noon.

Marybrook is a converted tower house which dates to the 1550s on a site established by the Knight’s Templar as a manor farm in the 11th-12th century.

Among the contents is a selection of oak furniture, including side tables which suit the medieval style of the interior.

Georgian furniture includes a side table (possibly Irish) and two mahogany chests on chest.

There is a good Victorian half tester bed, a Victorian double scroll ended couch, a Regency pedestal sideboard, a Victorian dining table with two extra leaves which comfortably seats ten people and a mahogany longcase clock with brass dial.

There are oil paintings, watercolours, gilt mirrors, rugs, silver, plate, glass and Chinese and European ceramics.

Outdoor items include some farm machinery and tools, including a vintage tractor, cast iron and stone garden furniture and a 1973 Porsche 911.

Viewing is from 5pm to 8pm next Thursday, from 11am to 8pm on Friday, and from 10am to the start of the auction on this day week.
