Less Scouse and more elegantly arched and delicately filled, please, the offerings we all want finely plucked and subtly shaded are coming at us from HD Brows, a UK firm who’ve pioneered a seven-step process to the perfect shape and colour for your face.
Seven steps though, that’s quite the commitment. “Yes, it involves a consult, tint, wax, thread and then the HD brow design,” confirms Sabrina Campbell, owner of Body Beautiful in Douglas village, Cork. The first salon in the city to offer the service, it’s absolutely flying for them. “We’re seeing women from 17 to 60 coming in to have it done, but no men yet,” she laughs.
What’s inspiring the sudden surge in all things eyebrows, then? “There’s great marketing behind it,” reckons Campbell, and she also tips the nod to the fact that it’s huge with celebrities. Katie Price, AKA Jordan, sports a particularly scary beetle-brow version, not altogether helping the HD cause, but with glam gals like the Saturdays’ Una Healy and Kylie Minogue more recently rocking the trend, it all helps even things out a little.
At about €45, the treatment can last from four to eight weeks depending on your hair growth, but be warned: this isn’t for all comers. “Not everyone is suitable,” stresses Campbell. “If brows are thin it will be hard to get the HD shape so we’d recommend the a growth treatment or that you use castor oil on them for a few weeks first.”
And for those who are scared off by terrifying Scouse Brow fears and HD’s previous reputation for a dark, thick marker pen finish? At Body Beautiful, the focus is firmly on what’s going to work well for you.
“There are loads of tints and colours available,” reassures Campbell.
“We’ll lead a client towards what’s right for them, steer them in the right direction and give lots of advice.” Phew!

Use a matte powder eyeshadow. A shadow a couple of shades lighter than your own hair and a stiff brush will do the job nicely.
