What’s in my beauty bag?
“Mac Studio Fix Fluid SPF15, €31, is what I use. I’ve tried all sorts of different foundations but this has a nice consistency, nice coverage and good shade choice. Because my skin gets a bit red in winter, it just has that extra bit of coverage I need.”
“I do like eye shadow, and though I’m not very adventurous, I know what suits me. I use Bobbi Brown Bone, €22, on the lid and I use Eggplant in the socket too, it’s very nice. I’m a big fan of her products”
“I bought Smashbox’s Lash DNA, €23, on a trial run and I do find that it does lengthen the lashes, but I’m always open to suggestion for a new one to try! It’s really important for me to have a waterproof mascara because I’m always chopping onions in the cookery school, so it has to be able to stand up to that.”
“I tend to go for lipstick over gloss and I often buy when I’m on my way through the airport. I am currently really liking one of Mac’s Viva Glam shades which is slightly shiny so doesn’t need much gloss over it. I go for pinky-coral shades over brights, so a new favourite is Capture by Smashbox, €18. It’s easy to wear and a lovely colour on my skintone.”
“I’m definitely a gel eyeliner fan! It gives such a nice line and more depth. I prefer to accentuate my eyes as I don’t go for much colour on my lips — it looks more natural. Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink, €22, is a favourite, and I apply it with a brush I picked up at Sephora in the States. I also like Colorsport 24 Hour Eyeliner — it’s a felt tip-type one and so easy to use.”
“Eye cream is something I always have on the go and I’d usually change it fairly frequently. At the moment I’m using Clarins Eye Contour Balm, €32.50. It’s lovely and smooth, soaks in very well and hydrates the area. I’m using it morning and night and then I lather on the face cream on top!”
“I have different fragrances for different times of the day — for night I’d go for Gucci Envy, for example, as it’s got a richer scent, but for day I love Inis, from €22.50. It’s so fresh and zingy and I love the fact that it’s made in Wicklow. It’s a great daytime perfume.”
