Puppet Power

Beauty buzz

Let the kid in you take reign with Opi’s adorable Muppettes mini nail lacquers, €16.95, released to support Disney’s new Muppets movie, out this month.

Padded Sell

The face powder from Clarins’ Passion collection for Christmas is getting all the press, but I have my eye on the make-up palette, €40. It’s a great price for four shadow shades, a blush, mini mascara and gloss, plus brushes and a decent mirror. The zippy kit is padded and rigid enough to survive regular handbag travails as well.

Face off

With just 3,000 of them in existence, the Giorgio Armani Palette Madreperla Noel, €110, is a real collector’s item. A handmade mother-of-pearl detail decorates the top of the compact, which contains shimmering shades for eyes and cheeks. It’s a beauty.

Bat for Lashes

Proving our flirtation with falsies is far from over, Benefit launches Lash Lovelies, €13.50, this month. In eight varieties plus individuals, there’s bound to be one to fit all.

Scentsational

Valentino has used model-of-the-moment Freja Beha Erichsen, above, to front its new scent, Valentina, from €54. Beautifully adorned and dressed, the bottle contains an Italian floriental juice that begins with bergamot and white Alba truffles. Jasmine, Amalfi orange blossom, tuberose and wild strawberries are at the heart and there’s cedar and amber at the base.

Real appeal

We’ve watched on US blogs in envy as they bragged about Salon Effects real nail polish strips, but the fab news is they’re finally here in nine pattern variants for €8.95 a pack. Literally stick and go — patterns include leopard and zebra prints, as well as floral and glitter. We’re in love.

BEAUTY POWDERS

This season’s complexion powders are slugging it out to give you the most gorgeous glow you’ve ever had.

1. With embossing inspired by a belt buckle worn by Madame herself, Chanel’s Lumière Sculptée Highlighting Powder, €55, is almost too pretty to use. Almost.

2. Designed by Kate Winslett, some of the proceeds from Lancôme’s Poudre Golden Hat, €45, go to autism charities.

3. Bobbi Brown Party Shimmer Brick, €44.50, contains gold and silver powders for warm and cool skintones.

Q. Since the seasons have changed, my skin has gone bonkers and my products just aren’t performing. What should I do?

A: As a rule of thumb, says Mauricio Versaiani, skincare coach at the Body Shop on Grafton Street in Dublin, we need more moisture in the winter time.

“Women also need to understand their skin type too and we can help with that.”

The store offers mini facials for €15 country-wide, which are redeemable against product purchase.

This may be just the thing to get you back into a skin-kind routine for the winter ahead.
