WE hear a lot about the importance of biodiversity and the conservation of species and habitats. Much of the attention focuses on tigers, gorillas or pandas — beautiful creatures with large, appealing eyes. But, of course, the real conservation challenge lies in the less photogenic world of plants.
Vegetation forms the base of all food pyramids and is vital to man and beast. It’s quite simple, without plants life is impossible. And the speed with which plants are disappearing all over the planet as a result of ecological interference by humans is staggering.
