Today, model and former Miss Kerry, Helena Hanbidge talks to us about what she’s wearing
How much did it cost?
I paid €21 for the hat, €10 for the vest, €50 for the trousers and about €110 for the heels. The bag is borrowed from a friend and I paid €11.50 for the necklace and ring from Penneys. The watch and earrings were gifts.
What do you love most about it?
I love how it’s stylish yet still comfortable and that a few simple accessories, regardless of the price, can really lift a plain outfit.
Who is your fashion icon?
My personal style draws from present trends mixed with old Hollywood glamour. It can actually be a bit schizophrenic depending on my mood. I adore old Hollywood styles like Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor mixed with present day celebs like Victoria Beckham. I’m obsessed with the stylist Monica Rose who is a stylist to the Kardashians, I love her edge.
What designers do you admire?
Balmain, Elie Saab and Roberto Cavalli.
What is the last thing you bought?
A black Joanne Hynes leather armor jacket.
What was your biggest splurge?
A Fiona Whyte custom designed evening dress that I’ve worn once.
What is your best bargain buy?
Anything from Penneys is a bargain.
Where do you like to shop?
I like to shop in high street stores such as French Connection, Zara, Topshop and Etxart & Panno which is a Spanish store. I’m a sucker for trawling through online sites like asos.com and eBay, which is great for vintage buys.
What has been your biggest fashion faux pas?
I grew up in the era of the Spice Girls so let’s just say wearing combats, a puffa body warmer and six inch platform runners on your confirmation day was a big ‘no no’!
