Today, model and Miss Cork 2010, Mairead O’Farrell, talks to us about what she’s wearing
How much did it cost?
I paid €20 for the coat, €30 for the dress, €10 for the leggings and €45 for the boots. The bag was a gift from a friend.
What do you love most about it?
I love the boots. They are really comfortable and have a designer feel, but at a much cheaper price.
Who is your fashion icon?
I really admire Sienna Miller and Kate Moss, in terms of style. They always look so gorgeous, but never too done or polished-looking.
Which designers do you admire?
I really admire local designer, Cathy Jackson; I can’t recommend her enough. She made my debs dress and I adored it. She also had a really cool and fun collection in last year’s Cork Fashion Week.
What is the last thing you bought?
A cute little jumpsuit from the a|wear sales.
What was your biggest splurge?
A beautiful, long dress I got for a graduation a couple of years ago. I think it was €400, but I got two or three wears out of it, so it wasn’t too bad.
What is your best bargain buy?
A black Guess shoulder bag. I wanted one for ages and picked a lovely one up in Macy’s, New York, for just €50. It’s so handy, as it goes with nearly everything.
Where do you like to shop?
Topshop, Penneys, Bershka, Zara and Amity boutique.
What has been your biggest fashion faux pas?
Definitely velour tracksuits. I think I had one in every colour and I totally cringe looking back on them.
