Zoe Wong, owner of Horse & June vintage boutique, talks about what’s she’s wearing

Today I’m wearing an Yves Saint Laurent vintage silk blouse, Izzue trousers, Lanvin for H&M shoes and a bow ring by Token.

How much did it cost?

I paid €190 for the YSL blouse, €58 for the trousers and €99 for the shoes. The ring costs €95 from my boutique Horse & June.

What do you love most about it?

YSL was revolutionary in its time and the blouse reminds me of the powerful women of the past. The trousers are just comfy and my new shoes are something that I can keep and some day pass them on; what’s happening with designers and highstreet brands is part of future fashion history.

Who’s your fashion icon?

Tilda Swindon. She pushes the boundaries like no other but always looks comfortable in her skin. She reminds me that fashion really should be effortless.

Which designers do you admire?

The late Alexander McQueen for his vision, Yves Saint Laurent for his historical impact and my friend Jennifer who started Token Jewelry (www.tokenjewelry.com); she’s an everyday example of true talent and hard work.

What is the last thing you bought?

I went to H&M before Christmas with my brother Zeno and saw the remnants of the Lanvin for H&M collection. I walked out with these cute black patent heels I’m wearing.

Biggest splurge?

Probably my Italian ankle boots that I bought in Barneys NYC after my first paycheque as a shoe designer.

Best bargain buy?

I once went to Oxfam on Georges Street and they had a ‘buy one get one free’ offer. I ended up getting a 1950s handmade lemon prom dress with Jackie O collar and another black brocade dress for €25. I ended up wearing them for family weddings in Hong Kong this year.

Where do you like to shop?

My shopping havens are Barneys Coop in NYC, Island Beverly Centre in Hong Kong and Petite Bateau in Paris for my basics. I wear quite a bit of vintage and I find that either on the job or on my travels.

Biggest fashion faux pas?

Possibly the entire era of the 90s! I remember going to Nope in Galway and buying navy plaid flared trousers for a family do. I genuinely do not know what I was thinking.
