IT’S traditional these days when writing about animated movies to mention in passing that the makers have been kind enough to include plenty of jokes for the adults who pay for the tickets and popcorn. Megamind (US/PG/96 mins), on the other hand, appears to be an animated movie made specifically with adults in mind.

Dome-headed Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell) is the world’s greatest villain, whose lifelong ambition is to defeat perennial do-gooder Metro Man (Brad Pitt) and take over Metro City. When Megamind finally achieves his aim, however, he finds himself consumed by existential angst and bored by absolute power.
