A gluten-free Colin the Caterpillar cake lands in Irish M&S shops — here are the details
Colin the Caterpillar is now available in a gluten-free version
Coeliacs rejoice! A cult favourite cake has just been launched in a gluten-free version.
M&S Food has confirmed Colin the Caterpillar has been made without wheat for the first time and is available in supermarkets now, including Irish stores, and can be found in the Made Without aisle priced at €15.
The retailer says a gluten-free version of the cake has been the most requested product on M&S Food’s social media and they have spent “years perfecting the recipe without compromising on M&S quality and flavour”.
Gluten-free Colin, the brand says, tastes the same as the original.

“Just as iconic as the original, our Gluten Free Colin cake has all the same, loveable features including his super chocolatey sponge, velvety buttercream and of course his face and boots, just made without wheat.”
Marks & Spencer say they have ensured no cross-contamination by investing in new equipment for their gluten-free customers.
“Made Without Gluten Free Colin the Caterpillar is lovingly made in a brand-new facility at our supplier who has been making Colin for 35 years. We have invested in new equipment exclusively for Gluten Free products, therefore there is no risk of cross contamination and is suitable for Coeliacs.”
Unsurprisingly, the news has been very well received online.
"Is this the best day of my life???" one excited Irish customer asked, while another said: "It’ll be worth the 1.5 hour drive to my nearest M&S."
