Idyllic 77-acre West Cork farm combines charm, grassland and forestry

New to the market outside of Bantry, West Cork, is a 77-acre farm with lands that are mostly occupied by forestry.
The holding is an attractive one, featuring the kinds of elements that a certain kind of farmer would long for – an idyllic countryside setting with a traditional farmhouse, a good number of green acres (approximately 15) and a substantial parcel of forestry generating an income.
“The house is a two-bedroom property,” says selling agent Ray O’Neill of Sherry Fitzgerald O’Neill’s Bantry office. “There are also a number of outbuildings… the property is on two folios in fact; one has the house and outbuildings on three acres with roadside access. Then there are another 12 acres of grassland, and there are 61 acres of forestry, with four more premium payments due – finishing in 2030.”
The farm is at Colomane East, 7km from Bantry and 2km of the main Bantry-Bandon road at Colomane Cross.
“There’s a good level of interest in it so far,” says Ray. “There’s good interest from people looking for forestry land, there are local farmers interested in the land, and then, the house will always be attractive in the current market. It’s most likely to sell all together I think.”
In terms of price, the agents are expecting to achieve in excess of €800,000 (€10,400/acre).
