There was an exceptional auction result on September 30 last at Hill House in Cashel, in the heart of the South Tipperary Golden Vale lands.

The property that went under the hammer was a quality 41-acre farm at Boscobell — two minutes from Cashel and six minutes from the M8.

“The holding was initially offered in three lots,” said selling agent Raymond Vere Hunt. “Lot 1 comprised approximately 18 acres, while Lot 2 comprised approximately 23 acres together with the farmyard. Lot 3 offered the entire 41-acre holding.”

In the weeks leading up to the sale, there had been considerable interest in the farm, resulting in a strong turnout on the day.

“While there was interest in the individual lots, it became clear very quickly once bidding opened on the entire farm that there was serious competition to secure the farm as one complete holding,” says Raymond.

“Bids came in strongly, with a number of interested parties competing before the field eventually narrowed as the price continued to rise.

“The hammer ultimately fell at €1.27m, bringing the successful public auction to a close and resulting in a sale price of just under €31,000 per acre. The farm was purchased by a local business owner with farming interests.

“It was an exceptional piece of land, and we are thrilled for the vendor with the result achieved. It also proves that a live public auction can be one of the best ways of achieving the ultimate price for your property.”
