A 47-acre farm in one of Tipperary’s most alluring areas is likely to attract as much attention for its potential as a place to live as for its acres.

The property is for sale with Nenagh-based agents Sherry FitzGerald Talbot at Roran, near the lakeside village of Terryglass.

“It’s in a nice scenic area 3km from Terryglass,” says selling agent William Talbot. “There’s good farmland around there as well and there are good strong contenders in terms of dairying and drystock farmers.

“The land is broken into two sections, which are situated on both sides of the public road — so there’s a good bit of road frontage [450m] and site potential with it. It’s good arable land, with a small portion of heavier land down towards the end of it. There’s also a bit of mature woodland on it.

“We’ve had a good level of interest to date. At the moment, there are a few clients talking to banks to organise finance… so we’re expecting the first offers on the property fairly soon.”

Crucially, the holding has a two-storey derelict farmhouse on it, which may qualify for the €70,000 Government grant.

“Any of the interest we’ve had so far have come from full-time farmers, so we’ll see how it develops over the coming weeks.”

The price guide is €15,000-€17,000/acre.
