The Women's Day event will be an opportunity for female farmers and stakeholders to network, as well attending a panel discussion.

Tickets for the third annual International Women’s Day lunch hosted by Macra and the Agricultural Science Association (ASA) are now available.

The event will be taking place on Thursday, March 5, at the Lyrath Estate, Co Kilkenny. Tickets are available via the ASA website. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Unstoppable: Women Driving Progress.’

Macra president Josephine O’Neill, said: “We're delighted to see the return of our International Women's Day event in association with the ASA and proudly sponsored by FBD.

"Women have always played an integral role in driving progress behind the scenes in rural Ireland. We look forward to shining a light on inspirational women and showcasing their achievements in Irish agriculture.”

Held in recognition of International Women’s Day on March 8, the event will bring together industry leaders, professionals and advocates to celebrate and recognise the contribution of women across agriculture and rural Ireland.

All proceeds from the lunch will go to Breast Cancer Ireland, following the success of last year’s event, which raised almost €9,000 for the charity. A raffle will again take place on the day in support of this cause.

ASA president Dale Crammond said: “I'm delighted that the ASA is again partnering with Macra to host this event, acknowledging the important role that women play in our great industry. I'd like to acknowledge and thank our sponsor FBD, who make events like today possible.”

National head of branch strategy and sales performance at FBD, Emer O’Byrne, said: “FBD is proud to support this event, which celebrates the strength, resilience and momentum of women who are driving real progress across agriculture today. The ‘Unstoppable’ theme strongly reflects what we see across the sector: women leading change, shaping the future, and making a lasting impact at every level."

Doors open at 11am for registration and a chance for attendees to meet and network, allowing a chance to connect ahead of the main event. A three-course lunch will be served at 12 noon, followed by a panel discussion. Speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
