Prime 49-acre East Cork land has reasonable expectation of €18k/acre
The farm at Baurleigh, Kilbrittain, Co. Cork is all in one block.
Clonakilty-based auctioneers Hodnett Forde Property Services are offering a prime slice of one of the most coveted corners of County Cork, near Kilbrittain and Bandon.
The 48.9-acre parcel of pasture at Baurleigh, Kilbrittan is all in one block, set out in a number of paddocks 5km northwest of Kilbrittain village and 7km south of Bandon. Cork city centre is as close as a half-hour drive from here.
“This is a nice farm — a nice compact holding,” says selling agent Ernest Forde of the property that has approximately seven acres of less productive land.
“The workable land is absolutely top quality. It’s suitable for anything, including tillage.”
With public road bounding the property on virtually all sides, the farm also features outbuildings and a dwelling.

The house is a single-storey cottage-style residence for refurbishment, while the outbuildings consist of a number of storage sheds, including a disused milking parlour, a back-to-back loose lying shed with a concrete yard, a concrete silage pit and dungstead.
“There would be a number of strong dairy farmers in the area,” says Ernest, “and there are other non-dairy farmers close by too who would have an interest in this property.
“For the price guide, we’re quoting somewhere between €800,000 and €900,000 (€16,000 to €18,000/acre). That’s reasonable in the current market and we would hope that market is holding.”
