A 51-acre Cork farm will be going under the hammer on Thursday 26th of February next at the Charleville Park Hotel, presented in two separate parts (approximately ½km from one another), offering an overall package that will tempt a variety of clients.

The holding is at Ballinagrath, Ballyhea, County Cork, 1km west of the main Cork-Limerick road, roughly equidistant (8km) from Charleville and Buttevant.

“There are 27 acres in Lot 1,” says selling agent Michael Barry of Fermoy-based Dick Barry & Son, “which has a nice three-bedroom single-storey farmhouse and farmyard. Then, on the other side of the road, there are 24 acres in Lot 2.

“We’ll put Lot 1 up for sale first, followed by Lot 2 and then offer the entire holding.”

The house is in habitable condition, the agent adds, requiring some modernisation. It will be interesting to see where the stronger demand lies – for the entire or for the separate lots.

“It’s an executor sale,” Michael adds, “and you’d imagine that Lot 1 would be an attractive set-up for someone interested in hobby farming, for example… if I was to guess it, I’d say it’s more likely to go in two lots. But with an auction, you never know.”

With a price guide of approximately €15,000 - €20,000/acre, all will be revealed on the day.
