Located just outside Banteer in North Cork, a 69-acre farm is new to the market with Mallow-based O’Connell Auctioneers.

This is a prime piece of tillage land located in the heart of an area more commonly associated with dairying and with the origins of the co-operative movement. This certainly doesn’t diminish its attractiveness for any farmer in the vicinity and beyond.

“About 55 acres of it are under tillage,” says selling agent William O’Connell, adding that the remaining approximately 14 riverside acres are planted with trees. “There was maize there the last 2-3 years and the land has been in tillage for about 20 years.”

With the River Blackwater forming much of its northern boundary, this farm comes with fishing rights; which may be used or rented out to generate an income.

The southern boundary features a generous length of road frontage immediately to the northeast of Banteer. The N72 lies just to the north, leading east to Mallow (18km) and west to Killarney (48km). Kanturk is 7km north and Newmarket is 16km away.

Described by selling agent William O’Connell as a “unique opportunity”, this is certainly a rare commodity - a large holding of high quality in this part of the Rebel County.

The price guide is €1,000,000 (€14,500/acre) with current highest offers of around €13,000/acre on the table.
