Some of the rich pasture of the 30-acre farm at Ballysheedy, Limerick.

Similarly to agricultural land near Cork City, any land parcels that come up for sale around Limerick city are guaranteed to be in strong demand and to command a strong sale price.

Limerick-city-based auctioneers Hanly Donnellan have a 30-acre holding that’s new to the market; the property in question is at Ballysheedy, just outside Limerick city.

The parcel is all in one block and it’s a good quality and well-farmed piece of land that has typically excellent soil that one would associate with the Golden Vale and this part of the world.

“It’s new to the market — we only put it up for sale last week,” says selling agent Bill Hanly. “It’s in one field and it’s within 5km of Limerick city centre and it’s on the Ballysheedy Road.”

The value of this property is purely agricultural and there are no zoning issues that would suggest otherwise.

However, with its proximity to a rapidly expanding city and its motorway infrastructure, there’s no doubt that anyone looking at buying it will be aware of its “hope value”.

The price guide of €750,000 (€25,000/acre) reflects its quality and its potential.
