The 20-acre holding for auction at Youngstown, Co Wexford.

Coming up for sale by online auction on Thursday, May 8, is a 20-acre holding in south Co Wexford.

Located in the townland of Youngstown, approximately 5km from the village of Taghmon and 20km southwest of Wexford town, the property has good access directly from the public road and is 1.4km north of the R733 (Wexford-Duncannon road).

The sale will be conducted by Wexford town auctioneers DNG McCormack Quinn, and the property is currently laid out in grass in an area where a mixture of land uses prevail, from dairying to tillage and beef cattle.

Small parcels of good land such as this one usually attract a wide level of interest, and one would expect that this holding won’t be any different.

“It’s a little bit early to tell in terms of the interest levels,” said auctioneer Gary Quinn. “Most people won’t show their hands until the week before the auction, when they have to register for it, but we’ve had a nice few enquiries so far.

“It’s good land. There’s a stream on the eastern boundary and although it’s all in grass at the minute, a lot of the land around it would have been tilled and this property would have had corn on it. It’s suitable for most uses.”

The price guide given by the selling agents is between €10,000 and €12,000 per acre. The quality of the holding, its convenience and the size of it will all play their part in determining its value on the day.
