Roundworm forecast for 2025

This year, the peak Nematodirus egg hatching for most of the country will be the early days of April, the exception being the Atlantic coastal areas, where peak egg hatching was predicted for the end of March.

Through a collaboration between the Department of Agriculture, Met Éireann, UCD, and Teagasc, the forecast is a tool used to help predict the risk of disease caused by the roundworm Nematodirus battus.
