An excellent 41-acre parcel of land in East Cork is new to the market with Brian Gleeson Property.

The holding in question is in the townland of Ballyhonock, near Killeagh, Co Cork. According to the selling agent, this is in a stunning and picturesque corner of East Cork and the agents haven’t ruled out the possibility of the farm going to auction.

There are 36 acres of prime lands, with an additional five acres around Ballyhonock Lake.

“It’s top-quality land,” said Mr Gleeson, “in a fantastic location that’s right in the heart of East Cork and quality progressive dairy farmers, as well as significant and successful stud farms.

There are numerous successful breeding operations in the area, such is the nature of the quality soil

The property, therefore, will be of strong interest locally and — with a significant quantity on offer — there should be interest from farther afield too.

“The fact that it’s virgin soil for thoroughbreds, as well as being of interest to progressive dairy farmers, makes it a particularly interesting farm,” says Mr Gleeson.

The farm is currently in stubble, which also points to the quality of its soil. The holding is close to Killeagh village, which is on the N25 (Cork-Waterford main road) and it is also close to the Midleton-Youghal Greenway.

“The interest is very good,” said Mr Gleeson.

Only just after launching, there’s already active interest in it

The price guide for the property is €20,000/acre — a reasonable expectation given the farm’s attractive qualities.
