A 73-acre farm in South Kerry is new to the market with Kenmare-based auctioneers DNG Timothy O’Sullivan.

The property is in Knockeens, 5km from the town of Kilgarvan, 11km from Kenmare and 36km from Killarney.

It has a mixture of land qualities and uses and has a good deal going for it, not least of which is its aesthetics. The property is in a scenic location on the edge of the Mangerton Mountains, with southerly views over the Roughty Valley.

“It’s just on the market,” said selling agent Tadhg O’Sullivan. “There’s very good interest in it so far… just as there is with any piece of land that comes on the market at the moment.”

The property is at the end of a cul-de-sac road, which is easily accessed from the public road and with the ruin of a house on site, the attraction from those looking for a lifestyle change in rural Kerry is probably as strong as that of people looking for additional acres for their agricultural holding.

According to Mr O'Sullivan, about 50% of the lands consist of good arable fields, while the remainder consists of rough grazing.

“It’s all very well fenced, and it’s ready to go for anyone looking for a nice piece of ground,” said Mr O'Sullivan. “And it’s a very lovely location for anyone looking for a house.”

With the added possibility of establishing a wind farm on this land, the appeal for it is wide, with plenty of potential for its €400,000 (€5,400/acre) price guide.
