ICMSA dairy chairman Noel Murphy said that for base prices, “realistically, you need milk somewhere between 45c and 50c/litre to really give farmers a decent family income”.

Increases in milk prices announced by processors are welcome, but they are still “not enough” for farmers to cover their costs, the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has warned.
