Hobby Farmer's dream in North Cork may be sold in lots

The house on the 25-acre farm for sale at Kilknockane, Freemount, Co. Cork.

New to the market and jointly listed with Charleville-based O’Keeffe Residential and Mallow-based William Broderick Auctioneer, an attractive 25-acre holding near Freemount village, North Cork, cuts the kind of presence that matches the dream vision of many hobby farmers.

“We’ve actually had a nice bit of interest in this farm from the UK,” explained selling agent Sarah O’Keeffe. “The house is an old traditional farmhouse. The roof was done about 30 years ago, so it’s in reasonable condition, but the house itself is in need of renovation.

“There are fabulous outbuildings coming with it. You’ve got the old stone farm buildings, plus some more modern machinery storage sheds, a hay barn, a milking parlour, a three-bay slatted unit… it’s a lovely property.”

Accommodation in the house includes an entrance hall, lounge, snug, kitchen, dining room, storeroom, bathroom and four bedrooms, offering 128m2 of space.

The quality land is laid out in four large fields, easily accessed and well-fenced. Although it’s for sale in one unit, Sarah says that the possibility of selling in lots has not been ruled out.

“We’ve had interest in the land alone, as well as enquiries on the house on five or six acres,” added Ms O'Keeffe, “So we could sell it in lots.”

The price guide for this gem of a smallholding is €500,000 (€20,000/acre).
