Quality farm in West Cork guided at €13,000-€15,000 an acre

A 43-acre farm in West Cork is new to the market with Dunmanway-based auctioneers Lehane and Associates.
The property is in the townlands of Derrigra and Gurteenroe – less than 1km north of the twin villages of Ballineen and Enniskeane.
This is a part of West Cork that’s characterized by high-quality pastures and a strong dominance of the dairying sector. Only a few kilometres west lies the large Carbery Group dairy processing plant. Bandon is 16km away and Cork city centre is less than 45 minutes away.

“This is superb dairy country,” says selling agent Denis Lehane. “It’s all in one block. There aren’t any outbuildings or dwellings on the property but it’s really a cracking piece of land, with road frontage on both sides and all of it in permanent pasture. The land here has excellent soil depth and it’s free draining.”
In recent years, this part of West Cork has seen several holdings move from the €10,000 mark up to the €15,000 and €20,000/acre mark. In that context, the guide price of between €13,000 and €15,000/acre seems conservative. It may be that the location of this property is around the western edges of the high-price zone or it could be taking into account the small amount of wastage on its western boundary. As always, time will tell.
