Milk supply down over 50m litres

With the breeding season fast approaching and early-calving cows on the cusp of peak milk production, getting grass into the diet of cows is the priority, Teagasc has said.

Milk supply to processors and co-ops was estimated at 330.4m litres in February 2024, CSO figures show.

This is a decrease of 50.6m litres (13.3%) when compared with February 2023 and down 37.1m litres (10.1%) when compared with the same month in 2022.
