Hard-selling advised as beef prices hold firm
The most positive exception to the general run on prices is for cows, for which the factories are willing to advance 5-10c/kg on their offers to get larger numbers, writes Martin Ryan.
It is more of the same on the price front for cattle being supplied to the factories for this week, as a stable trade for the prime beef animals continues to be the order of the day.
That means the base for steers continues to be quoted at 510c/kg in general, with some of the factories offering up to 515c/kg, which is a shade easier to get for larger numbers or by regular suppliers.
