Inflated building costs devaluing TAMS grants

Senator Daly said the difference between a 60% grant applied to the Department's reference costing and what the farmer will spend is more than €17,000.

Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue has been told that accelerating buildings costs have devalued TAMS grants from 60% to 41%, and from 40% to 28%.

However, he said it will be later this year before the next review of costs will be commenced, and any subsequent revision of reference costs will apply only to future TAMS applications for grant aid.
