My phone this week has been binging with WhatsApp alerts from the regional vet labs warning us of confirmed cases of Schmallenberg virus (SBV) in lambs and calves this spring.

I remember when I graduated in 2013, it was that spring when Schmallenberg was causing havoc across the UK, particularly in sheep flocks. with the birth of deformed lambs.
