37-acre Carlow farm with outbuildings gaining interest
The holding comes with an extensive farmyard containing a good number of good-quality outbuildings.
Located in the townland of Maplestown, 5km north of the village of Rathvilly, Co Carlow, a 37-acre farm is new to the market with auctioneers JP & M Doyle.
“The land is of good quality grassland,” says selling agent Paul Doyle. “It’s being used for a dry stock operation at present.”
With Carlow town 20km away and Dublin about one hour’s drive, there is a good mixture of agricultural activity in this part of Leinster, with plenty of dairy and dry stock farmers in the locality.
“There are about five acres of the land that form a disused quarry, but other than that, the land is very good,” Mr Doyle said.
The holding comes with an extensive farmyard containing a good number of good-quality outbuildings. Laid out in five buildings and a silage slab, these include a four-span lean-to cattle shed (406sq m), a partly slatted shed (152sq m), a four-bay four-span shed (535sq m), a six-span shed (670sq m) and a feed house (236sq m).
“It’s only on the market since just before Christmas, but there has been decent interest in it, as there is in any land within striking distance of Dublin,” Mr Doyle said.
The price guide for the land is €565,000 (€15,000/acre). A modern bungalow can be purchased separately at €400,000. For someone looking to buy the entire holding, the guide is €890,000.
