Six global dairy giants sign methane pledge

The alliance aims not only to expedite climate action in the dairy industry, but also to set an example for the private sector by providing a model for transparency, accountability, and collaboration to reduce emissions within a global industry.

Six of the world’s largest food processing firms have signed an historic pledge at the UN climate conference, Cop28.

The Bel Group, Danone, General Mills, Kraft Heinz, Lactalis USA, and Nestlé joined with the Environmental Defense Fund to launch the Dairy Methane Action Alliance. Together the firms represent more than $200bn (€185.2bn) in sales annually.
