Hallow Advent Twizzle 3 wins new IHFA award
In 2016, she was the Glanbia Senior Cow Championship champion at Emerald Expo, as well as the Diageo Baileys Champion Cow.
She was also selected as the ‘Best Mature Cow In Milk’ by the 17 members of the nationwide IHFA panel of judges who adjudicated these photograph-based awards.
Other class winners were Dalevalley Dorman Embrace 2 ET, owned by Jim and Doireann Mulhall of Kilkenny, as ‘Best Heifer Born After 2015’; Dalevalley Dorman Tracey ET, owned by Roy Cromie, of Co Donegal as ‘Best Heifer Born July to December, 2015’; Greenlea Stonewall Oceane owned by Padraic Greenan, Monaghan, as ‘Best Heifer Born January to July, 2015’; Clonpaddin Windbrook Fame 2 ET, owned by John and Garry Hurley, Arklow, as the Best Heifer Born in 2014’; Laurelmore Wyman Lavender owned by John Barrett & Sons, Cork, as the ‘Best Three-Year-Old Cow In Milk’; and Drumlina Atwood Megan, owned by the Boyd/Greenan/O’Neill/ Timlin/Moore syndicate, Co Monaghan.
In the Irish Pure Friesian categories, the awards went to Churchclara Jason Circus, owned by Bill O’Keeffe, Co Kilkenny as ‘Best Heifer In Milk’ ; and Mountain Bounty Dixie ET, owned by Michael Spillane, Fethard, Co Tipperary as the ‘Best Cow In Milk’.
At last Friday’s IHFA awards night in Portlaoise, other winners included Brian Lyons, Michael Hickey, James Kelly, Richard Helen, Michael Coleman and Norman Lockhart, getting IHFA Gold and Diamond Awards.
These awards are for cows producing 3,000kg of protein, and also Classified Excellent on Conformation in the case of a Diamond Award.
YMA Awards were also presented, to Laura Sinnott (special merit); Maria Burke (hall of fame); Kayla Tarpey (photography); and Breffni-Oriel (club of the year).
