Tesco Future Farmer Foundation: Young farmers invited to learn agri-business skills

Applicants have until next Monday, August 29, to enter. Launched in the UK in 2014 to help young people make a confident start in agriculture, this is the first time Irish-based farmers are invited to apply.
Some of the previous participants were looking to take over the family farm or to embark on a new farming venture, while others were new entrants to farming.
The programme looks at business management skills, supply chain, and personal development.
Sheila Gallagher, Tesco Ireland, commercial director, said: “Our foundation is about encouraging people to make their own start in the world of agriculture.
"At Tesco, we recognise the many challenges young people face in this industry. It’s really important we help create opportunities for the next generation of farmers.”
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in September. A final 50, including five from Ireland, will join the programme in October.
