The family-owned business employs 3,300 staff in eight countries and is the supplier of choice to a range of supermarkets, and food service and restaurant businesses.

It exports to over 40 countries and works with 15,000 Irish farmers, from whom it sources grass-fed cattle and lamb.

Mr O’Flynn holds an MSc in business sustainability (UCD), an MBA (UCC), and a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering (UCC).

He has more than 20 years’ experience in business development and engineering across the built environment, fast-moving consumer goods, waste management, and consulting sectors.

Prior to joining Dawn Meats, he worked for two years with Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme as a global ambassador.

Chief executive Niall Browne said the appointment is an important one for the group, which has worked to build its operations on a responsible and sustainable basis.

“It’s central to what we do,” he said.
