€818m superlevy despite 11 countries under milk quota

Eleven EU member states undershot the 2014/2015 milk quota by at least 10%.

But Ireland was one of 12 member states which over-produced, and must pay a total superlevy of €818m.

Now provisional EU figures indicate the Irish share of that bill will be €71,188,000; compared to an Irish estimate during the summer of about €69m, for producing 4.4% too much milk.
