Vegetable grower Rowland Newenham is to supply 50,000 Irish-grown corn on the cobs to SuperValu.
First for Irish corn on cob

SuperValu is the first retailer in Ireland to sell Irish corn on the cob on a national scale.

Mr Newenham sowed crops in April and May, grown under biodegradable plastic for early planting.

Farming 140 acres in Carrigaline, Co Cork and employing 10 staff, Mr Newenham also supplies SuperValu’s brussels sprouts, rhubarb, leeks and fennel.

SuperValu managing director Martin Kelleher, said it sources from over 2,200 Irish suppliers.
