Local interest expected for Scartaglen farm

Coming under the hammer at the Royal Hotel in Killarney, Co Kerry, on September 2 is a sizeable holding of 113 acres in east Kerry, close to the Cork border.
Local interest expected for Scartaglen farm

Situated about 4.5km to the north-east of Scartaglen village in the townland of Leaha, the farm is about 6km from Ballydesmond and 27km from Killarney.

Although the non-residential property is being sold in one lot only, there are three natural divisions in the farm, following the manner in which the two public roads dissect it.

The property will be auctioned by Killarney-based auctioneer Tom Spillane. According to the agent the land is of mixed quality.

“The land is a mix of good grazing ground, rough grazing ground and good silage ground,” says Mr Spillane.

“We’d hope to have good local interest in it. Good silage ground is hard to come by in that area,” he says.

The immediate locality is of mixed activity too, with some forestry and dairying, making this holding very much reflective of its local environment.

There are no entitlements with this property, which has its own well supply in addition to a stream bordering the lower part of it. The price guide is €5,000/acre.
