Tiger gets its teeth into beet

The Tiger 5 has an oscillating front axle and two hydraulically supported rear axles, to reduce sway by one third.
As a result, ground unevenness at the wheel affects the frame only 33%. The reduction of chassis swing improves the row and depth control.
Unique among three-axle beet harvesters, the Tiger 5 has an automatic levelling system with six hydraulic cylinders and sensors.
This reduces slope effect by 10%, managed by a unit which scans the soil surface and measures slope.
The improved slope stability keeps the Tiger 5 stable where other harvesters would tip over — and keeps the driver in a comfortable upright seating position.
The Tiger 5 is powered by a 626 horse power Mercedes Benz six-cylinder engine.
A stepless traction drive gearbox specifically developed for the Tiger 5 uses three hydraulic motors located between the engine and the third axle.
It allows road travel from zero to a maximum speed of 40kph without switching or traction interruption.
Traction is improved by direct power transmission via directly linear-situated cardan shafts to both rear axles and the front axle, with lead or lag from axle to axle.
A button touch automatically transforms the Tiger 5 from road drive mode to field mode, with the unloading conveyor, one-meter-wide ring elevator, and bunker augur folding out.
In the cab, a 12.1-inch touchscreen is the information and command centre.
