New JCB Fastrac 4000 speeds and squats and turns in 10m

In the new JCB Fastrac 4000 Series tractor, 60kph road speed is achieved at 1600rpm, or 50kph with less than 1400rpm, for maximum fuel economy.

Externally-mounted disc brakes all round and skid-free anti-lock braking are fitted.

Optional double-acting suspension allows the tractor to ‘squat’ and slide beneath a demount sprayer, spreader or bulk hopper, for quicker and easier switching between different tasks.

Self-levelling suspension (side-to-side as well as front and rear) maintains correct heights, wherever an implement is mounted.

JCB claim stability, control, ride comfort and handling at levels never seen before in an agricultural vehicle, with the unique side-to-side active levelling allowing maximum stability and driver confidence.

The Fastrac 4000 Series has a 30% higher permissible maximum vehicle weight of up to 12 tonnes, with up to four tonnes permissible on the rear load deck.

Other design features for higher productivity include tighter headland turns than their predecessor range.

On 540/65 R30 tyres all round, a Fastrac 4000 with four-wheel steering can turn in less than 10m.

The range has up to 235 horse power, transmitted to the wheels by continuously variable transmission designed for seamless acceleration and deceleration.

Options for the cab include a roof window, cool-box, MP3 connection, and a deluxe driver’s heated suspension seat.

The tractors are among the 408 new products on exhibitors’ stands at this week’s SIMA Paris International agri-business show.
