French farmers use a miniature combine harvester to get a grain sample for testing, before bringing in the full harvest crew.

The Minibatt is a popular piece of equipment, getting its name from the French words “Mini-batteuse”, meaning mini-combine harvester.

The latest version is one of the 408 new products on exhibitors’ stands at this week’s SIMA Paris International agri-business show.

With the Minibatt, it takes less than five minutes to harvest a 500-gram sample identical to that taken with a combine harvester.

Powered by battery, and portable (weight 3.3kg), the Minibatt is ideal for moisture testing before deciding to harvest or not.

Its battery holds enough power for up to 12 grain samples.

It is manufactured by the Godé company in Picardy in northern France.

The Minibatt is a self-contained unit comprising a picker/threshing drum, and aerator/blower; the grains are separated and collected in a sampling container. It can be used for various pre-harvest samples, including oilseed rape.

The largest suspended mower combination in the world is on the Pöttinger stand at this week’s SIMA Paris International agri-business show. The Novacat S12 has a power requirement of 160 horse power for a working width of 11.2 metres.

Also new from the Austrian company is the Novacat S10 with a working width of 9.52m, requiring 130 hp, with the manufacturer claiming output of more than 11 hectares per hour.

Also in Paris, Pöttinger showed the completely revised Europrofi 2 4510, 5010 and 5510 loader/transport wagons.
