€14,200/acre reflects interest in prime land near Tipperary
The auction took place at Tipperary Mart on Tuesday, February 17, with the property offered jointly with Michael O’Donovan of Tipperary Mart.
CCM agent Éamonn O’Brien carried out the auction, assisted by Michael O’Donovan, with solicitor Brendan Looby of McCarthy Looby Solicitors handling the legal work.
Two lots were on offer from a 45-acre residential farm.
Lot one consisted of a bungalow on one acre, while lot two was the more substantial offering, of 44 acres of prime grassland.
After a brief bidding process, the hammer came down on a figure of €639,000 for the 44 acres of land.
Representing €14,200 per acre, it’s a bullish figure by any standards, and it’s a reflection of the continuing interest in land, particularly prime land that’s ready to work with.
According to Éamonn O’Brien, the house was sold separately to a local lady, while the lands were bought in trust by two local solicitors — Brian O’Brien and John O’Donnell.
They wereacting on behalf of clients believed to be two local farmers.
